“Porta Latina” is making progress

The Latin text is formatted, macronized and proofread 🎉. The audio is also almost ready. In addition, I’ve seen that Moore has also written a quite detailed commentary. I’ll of course add it for you. I always find such notes in the text very helpful, as they often draw your attention to aspects of the […]

“Porta Latina” (F.G. Moore) in the works

Lately we’ve been concentrating mainly on beginner texts (and we’re still working on them, of course), but we’d also like to publish something for the intermediate level again. Porta Latina is a very entertaining collection of 50 fables (based on the versions of La Fontaine) translated into Latin by F.G. Moore. Daniel did an excellent […]

Auda, chapter VII almost ready

Our work on the seventh chapter of Auda is making great progress. The first draft of the translation and the commentary are already finished. Now there is still some proofreading and refining to do, but we will be able to publish it very soon!

Book recommendation (intermediate)

Every morning I take about half an hour to read something on Legentibus that is not directly related to my work. I’ve just finished reading Britain and the Emperors again. The title of the book doesn’t sound very exciting, but the text provides a really interesting sketch of the careers of the Caesars who had […]

Lots of proofreading

I’ve now added the images and marginal notes to the first five chapters of Familia Romana. We’ll publish a few chapters at a time so that you don’t have to wait until I’ve finished all 35 chapters. Today I’ll proofread everything several times to make sure I haven’t overlooked any notes and that the vowel […]

Martialis now available 🎉

This selection of 24 epigrams from Martial’s Epigrammata offers a vivid snapshot of Roman life through the poet’s keen observations and sharp wit. The book comes with audio, our own verse-by-verse translation and a commentary. You can find the new book on our explore page or you can simply search for it. If it’s not displayed yet, please tap on “Reload […]

Familia Romana: images and marginal notes

Now that I’m done with Martial (we can hopefully publish the book tomorrow), I’m going to focus on my next big project, which is adding the images and marginal notes to our Familia Romana books. Many of you have asked for this and maybe we can already update the first chapters this week. I’ll keep […]

Martial translation

Now that I’ve finished optimizing the translations of the beginner and intermediate books, I can start with the translation for Martial’s epigrams (we’ve selected 24 of our favorites for the book). I’ll do my best to do a verse-by-verse translation so that it will be easier for you to compare the Latin and English. Admittedly, […]

Preces Paschales

Easter is almost here. How time flies! Have you already had a look at Preces ad tempus Paschale? It’s a thoughtful compilation of prayers, carefully chosen and read (ecclesiastical pronunciation) by Father Mateus Mariano to accompany you during the Easter season. You can use the search function to look for the book.

Optimizing translations

With the new Legentibus version, we’ve added a new feature for interlinear translations (“translation bubbles”). Now we’re also developing a new feature for the “normal” translations to make it even easier to compare the Latin and English texts. That’s why I’m currently revising some of our older translations to make them more literal and more […]
