So, some updates. The last months my central focus, literally night and day, has been on revising and rewriting and greatly expanding what began as the adventure novel Auda. My vision for the course changed sometime around march or may. I have been hard at work since crafting a novel in latin for beginners (a revised and larger version of the current Auda story. Then I have embedded this story into a larger course with dialogues and much extra materials.
A month or so ago, I decided to make the notes all in Latin so that you can get a 100% latin immersion experience if you want. (There will of course still be an interlinear glossary available on tap, if you want!)
It’s not always easy to explain everything in Latin, but with Amelie’s illustrations I think we’ll get there.
What about release date? Hard to say. I’ve basically finished polishing modules 1 and 2. Several people (including Viviana and my dear friend Casper from Addisco) will read and go through them to see if there are any things we can improve.
I’ve written all the main text materials for the first 5 modules (which will be more or less 11 000 words of Latin) but some modules I need to polish, and for others I will write a lot of notes for them. Amelie is working hard drawing lots of illustrations.
This new beginner Latin course is by far the largest writing project I have ever started, but I really think it can become something that helps people learn latin ni a truly immersive way.
The kids are asleep, so I am now getting back to revising and writing notes to module 1 and 2.
Stay tuned for more updates!
