So, recording is of course the most important step but editing is central to making the listening experience pleasant. Often when I record, I do multiple takes of many sentences sometimes with different emphasis or in different tones of voices and then in the editing phase sort out which work best.
I do especially many takes for Auda because there are many characters which I try to distinguish with different speaking patterns and tone of voice. For instance, when editing just now, I noticed I accidentally used the same feel and voice for both the narrator and the centurion L. Refidius Bassus. Very often during editing, I find something I want to change or fix so the editing session usually becomes a mixed editing and recording session. I will have another listen to the audio before I export the audio file for the next step in the book creation.
