So, record­ing is of course the most impor­tant step but edit­ing is cen­tral to mak­ing the lis­ten­ing expe­ri­ence pleas­ant. Often when I record, I do mul­ti­ple takes of many sen­tences some­times with dif­fer­ent empha­sis or in dif­fer­ent tones of voic­es and then in the edit­ing phase sort out which work best.

I do espe­cial­ly many takes for Auda because there are many char­ac­ters which I try to dis­tin­guish with dif­fer­ent speak­ing pat­terns and tone of voice. For instance, when edit­ing just now, I noticed I acci­den­tal­ly used the same feel and voice for both the nar­ra­tor and the cen­tu­ri­on L. Refid­ius Bas­sus. Very often dur­ing edit­ing, I find some­thing I want to change or fix so the edit­ing ses­sion usu­al­ly becomes a mixed edit­ing and record­ing ses­sion. I will have anoth­er lis­ten to the audio before I export the audio file for the next step in the book cre­ation.
