
I’m working on an illustration of an auxiliary fort for the new version of the Legentibus course. Two things struck me whilst drawing:
- Roman forts look more like medieval forts than one might think. (Even though I knew this from before, actually putting the lines on paper makes it so much more real)
- Drawing a fossa (the ditch surrounding the fort) is ‑to my own surprise — probably the most difficult thing I’ve ever drawn. Hopefully the word fossa will be easier to learn for all of you, than it is to illustrate!
